Synthetic Galactic plane surveys.





These synthetic images show maps of 21cm atomic hydrogen emission derived from SPH simulations of spiral galaxies. The emission seen here is from a spiral arm analogous to the Perseus arm in our own Galaxy. The paper on this work can be found here.


Radiatively Driven Implosion



A movie of the density evolution of a cloud that is impacted by a shock wave driven by a massive star. The models use increasingly sophistocated treatments of the radiation field from left to right. Torus was used to demonstrate that a more complex treatment of the diffuse field is necessary in radiation hydrodynamics calculations. The paper on this work can be found here.
