First light, 22nd July 2015


The first astronomical images were taken with the new system! The camera is the SBIG CCD and filter wheel from the previous system. The dome is now synced to rotate following the telescope movement.

Alignment, 9th July 2015

The Astrophysics mount is installed in the dome. It sits on a purpose-built flat plate made by the workshop. This mount should give much better tracking stability than previously and that can be improved further by guiding.

New telescope installed, 7th July 2015


The 14″ Celestron Edge HD is installed in the dome. The optical tube is HUGE and each of the three counterweights is 18lb so we have to watch our heads from now on.

Mount installed, 9th June 2015

New dome installed, 12th May 2015


The first stage of the robotic observatory refurbfishment is complete; we now have a shiny new dome in place of the old one. The old one was carefully removed, as you can see in the videos (1 and 2), and the new one has been professionally installed.
